1.9 -- Is this complicated for me?
You are not a developer. You know nothing about "Docker" or "SSH". Is this still for you? Yes, and here's why.
Two paths, two difficulty levels
Path 1: You have someone install it (recommended)
Difficulty: like having an alarm system installed in your home.
You call an installer. They handle everything. In 3 hours, your agent is ready. You get a 30-minute training session to learn how to use Telegram with your agent.
What you need to know how to do: - Use Telegram (as simple as WhatsApp) - Reply "ok" or "no" to a message - Dictate a sample quote once so the agent learns your format
That's it.
Path 2: You install it yourself
Difficulty: like assembling an IKEA piece of furniture with the instructions.
The playbook guides you step by step. Every command is written out, every expected result is shown. You don't need to understand what the commands do — you copy-paste them.
What you need to know how to do: - Type commands in a terminal (the guide shows you how) - Follow instructions in order - Read error messages (the guide explains them all)
Plan for 6-10 hours spread over a weekend.
What you do NOT need to know
- How to program (no code to write)
- How AI works (you use it, you don't build it)
- How to manage a server (once installed, it runs on its own)
- How to speak English (the entire guide is in French)
The moments where you might get stuck
Let's be honest: here are the 3 moments where people struggle the most.
| Moment | Why it's hard | The solution |
|---|---|---|
| Choosing a server (VPS) | Too many choices, technical jargon | The guide recommends one provider with the right settings |
| Connecting email | Every provider has its own procedure | The guide covers Gmail, Outlook, and business email |
| Writing the agent's instructions | You need to explain your business to the agent | The guide provides templates to fill in |
None of these obstacles are technical. They are choices to make, and the guide helps you make them.
A simple comparison
| Daily task | Difficulty | Using OpenClaw |
|---|---|---|
| Using WhatsApp | Easy | Easier (you reply "ok") |
| Filing a URSSAF declaration online | Medium | Equivalent (follow a guide) |
| Installing an internet box | Medium | Equivalent (plug in and configure) |
| Creating a website yourself | Difficult | Simpler (no design work) |
The safety net
- The agent never does anything on its own. During the first month, everything goes through your approval.
- You can stop everything with one click. If you don't like it, you shut down the server. No consequences.
- You're not alone. The community answers questions, and an installer can take over at any time.
In summary
If you know how to use WhatsApp and reply to an email, you can use OpenClaw. The real question isn't "is this complicated?", it's "do I want to save 2 hours a day?".
